Jocelyn Anderson, PhD, RN, SANE-A

Principal Investigator
Dr. Jocelyn Anderson is an Associate Professor in the at the College of Nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She is originally from the middle-of-nowhere, Minnesota where she completed her undergraduate degree in nursing in 2008. Since then she has trained at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, earning her MSN (Clinical Nurse Specialist, Forensic Nursing Focus) and PhD; and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine completing postdoctoral fellowship training focused on adolescent research in community settings. She is an internationally certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner providing medical forensic care for patients who have experienced physical or sexual violence. Dr. Anderson’s research has focused on the physical and mental health outcomes of violence, and interventions to prevent and respond to violence. She is particularly interested in using technology-based interventions to improve health and justice outcomes at the intersections of violence, substance use, and mental health issues.
Jessica Draughon Moret, PhD, RN

Dr. Jessica Draughon Moret, an Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, holds a PhD in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. An award-winning researcher, Dr. Draughon Moret is dedicated to enhancing health equity, particularly in training healthcare providers and improving access to forensic nursing care for people after sexual and interpersonal violence. As a 2023 Betty Irene Moore Fellow, she is working on a telehealth project to enhance post-sexual assault HIV prophylaxis access. She also serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Forensic Nursing. Her publications and innovative projects have a lasting impact on improving healthcare outcomes for people after sexual assault.
Jessica Wellington MSN, RN

Graduate Research Assistant
Jessica is a third year PhD student in the College of Nursing at Penn State University. She joined the lab in 2021 while completing her doctoral work examining communication with and caregiving for adults on the autism spectrum.
Tequila Porter

Graduate Research Assistant
Tequila Porter is a PhD candidate and research project manager at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Porter supports faculty researchers and is responsible for qualitative data analysis, project recruitment, data streaming, and collection via social media. Porter grew up in the Asheville, N.C. area. She has spent several years in Atlanta, GA. and Davis, CA., where she is completing her PhD degree in Nursing Science and Healthcare Leadership.
Jacke Humphrey-Straub, MSW

Graduate Research Assistant
Jacke Humphrey-Straub (she/her) is a white, able-bodied, working class, queer, non-binary femme. She is a PhD candidate at UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing with a designated emphasis in Feminist Theory & Research. Her dissertation is a rapid ethnographic study taking place in primary care clinics in the U.S. using mixed methods of observations, surveys, and interviews to examine providers’ attitudes and beliefs toward prescribing gender-affirming hormone therapy. Her research interests seek to create access to gender-affirming care in primary care settings across the U.S. She received her master’s degree in social work in 2012 and bachelor’s degree in social work in 2009 from CSU, Chico. She is adjunct faculty at CSU, Sacramento School of Social Work. Jacke identifies as an abolitionist social worker and has a strong devotion to racial justice and Black liberation. On her spare time, you can find Jacke reading a novel, going on bike rides with her partner, or taking her kids to the Farmer’s Market on the weekends.
Cecilia Sanchez

Research Project Manager
Cecilia Sanchez is a research project manager at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis, where she balances both research administration and project management. She supports the implementation of grants and contracts, and leads budget preparation, reconciliation and projections for proposals and ongoing contracts. She also manages various faculty-led research projects by managing recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and overall project coordination.
James Case, MBI

Tech Extraordinaire
Mr. Case is a computer programmer and software engineer at Mongoose Projects. His web development and clinical research informatics experience spans over 15 years in both the public and private sectors, including NIH-funded projects at Oregon Health Sciences University and Johns Hopkins University. He specializes in creating accessible, user-friendly web tools and smartphone applications. This requires specific knowledge of usability guidelines and accessibility standards. His biomedical informatics training has provided the necessary skill set to effectively manage multi-year development and implementation projects. He has collaborated with Dr. Anderson on data collection, decision aids, and smartphone-delivered health interventions since 2012.
Whitney Norris, PhD, LPC-S (she/her)
Post-doctoral Fellow
Dr. Whitney Norris is a post-doctoral fellow in the College of Nursing at UAMS. She graduated in May of 2024 with her Ph.D. in Clinical and Translational Sciences after working over a decade as a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing the treatment of trauma. Whitney's research interests center around improving mental health outcomes of individuals who have experienced barriers to optimal mental health and wellbeing through experiences of trauma and other disparity-promoting risk factors.
